History of MWWWI

On May 2, 2005, a small group of Muslim women met informally in Sharjah, UAE to address our need to express positive images of Muslim women and Muslims in general, in all kinds of literary genre. We felt that literature of the Muslim world and particularly of Muslim women was often under- expressed and not fully appreciated. The voice of Muslim women needs to be heard but the means with which to express it is available only for a privileged few. We have so much to say with few resources that want to print it. MWWWI wants to change this!

After almost a year of monthly meetings* addressing these concerns, in March 2006, MWWWI decided the time had come to become more formally constructed and established officers and a website: www.mwww.org; which is now changed to www.mwwwi.com
